MAY I Follow Your Lifestyle?

I wanted to add an informative blog post for once instead of boring you with my life schedule. I thought for the month of May, I would share some ideas that might be helpful to you in dieting, budget and schedule each week, thus the title, 'MAY I Follow Your Lifestyle?'. Clever, right? Not so much. hehe.

Every week, I decide on what recipes I will make for the following week. I put them in a shared Google document for Dave to review if he pleases. So, I usually have 'This week's dinners' then 'Next week's dinners'. Pinterest and Yahoo Shine are my main recipe resources, oh and recommendations. Based on the recipe ingredients, I make a grocery list. Then I post our weekly recipes on our kitchen board. Exciting, right? The shopping list is also in the Google document so Dave can add whatever he wants. Simple enough. I go shopping once a week (usually Fridays) and I don't come home running around the kitchen trying to figure out what to make after a long day of work!

Example: This week's dinner schedule-

  • Pineapple Shrimp Fried Rice- an amazing dish I have made 3-4 times before. Recipe from a co-worker, thanks Marcy!
  • Moist Meatloaf- A new meatloaf recipe
  • Portobello Pizzas- oh my gosh, yum! I actually baked the 'shrooms for ten minutes then added toppings and baked for another ten. A yummy and healthy alternative to bread!
  • Paninis- These were AUH-MAZING. I made them in our George Foreman and added chicken! A must make!

Every weekend, I make a huge salad that we can snack on. I use romaine, spinach, carrot, tomatoes, broccoli and organic salad beans, yum yummm! Sometimes I add feta or goat cheese, or even Parmesan.

Also, I buy lots of fruits and veggies. This week, I bought two ripe canteloupes and lots of local strawberries from Miller Farms in Clinton, MD. I cut up the cantaloupes for another healthy snack.

Pay attention to what fruits and veggies are in season. It really affects their taste, who you support economically (support local), and who wants food that traveled from Mexico? Gew, now you have pollution on top of your pesticides, yummy. Btw, I have read that Mexico's organic standards are slacking, so watch you organic produce purchases, you could be paying more money for a non-organic product. If a produce label reads Mee-hee-coo, I put ittt back. ;)

Over the weekend, I made a breakfast quinoa, which was a first for me as I usually stick to my oatmeal with cinnamon, honey and seeds. The Breakfast Quinoa was really good. I suggest incorporating this protein packed grain into your diet asap! I enjoy it far more than rice!

Also, I pack an intense lunch for Dave and I every night. Planning and packing food is essential for my lifestyle. I pack us a mix of- grapefruit, apples, oranges, raw broccoli, greek yogurt (usually plain with fruit/ honey) and eggs. I eat oatmeal and an egg for breakfast pretty much every day. I make it the night before and put it in a tupperware like so,

Sometimes I get fancy and add spinach or onions and green peppers or just pepper and hot sauce! I love my eggs. They taste just fine the next day! Try it! I usually do one egg per person unless the eggs are small or it is the weekend, haha. This has 3 eggs divided into 2 small Tupperwares!

A spoiled Dave on a Sunday AM:

To wrap this up, but I will be back with more, planning is key! Sure, it takes time, but it's better than starving and grabbing whatever you can to satisfy your grumbling belly!

What I am LOVING Wednesday!

Time for a life update with a WILW. ;)

I love that our Caps are in the playoffs! Whoo hooo! Next game is tonight at 7:30 PM!

Go Caps!

Dave was in Amsterdam for a few days for a work trip last week. He didn't bring back many good pictures besides the one below and some interesting pictures from a sex museum. Sorry, I can't share them in the blog world ;)

Oh my gosh, Dave brought me some Stroopwafels back. Stroopwafels: a waffle made from two thin layers of baked batter with a caramel-like syrup filling in the middle. It is the Netherlands famous dessert that is sold in the streets, yum! I.love.love.love.them!

Unfortunately, Dave has a rash and thinks he had encountered some bed bugs while there. :x ba ha ha ha. I just fed him some Benadryl. Boyfriend be sleepy & hush. Men are so cranky when they have an 'illness'.

Over the weekend, I loved watching a lifelong friend get married. I have known the bride, Tiffaney, since I can remember. My Nana babysat her and her siblings during their school years. Congrats to Tiff & Steve. May you find life long happiness.

Some pictures of us modeling on Tiff & Steve's rented Rolls Royce after the ceremony:

Love this antique car! & I love my dress. I am interesting in finding more elegant dresses that show less skin but flaunt the body.

Is this a sign I am getting old? haha

I admire this well known & respected lady's style a lot, as do most people.

Love your style, Kate Middleton.

Okay, back to my life update

Between Dave & I's families, we have FIVE important family birthdays within TWO weeks of each other. Now, I love all of family & celebrating with them, but we have been SO busy going out to eat, buying gifts, baking cakes, etc. I need a nap.

Dee & Dad at Texas Road House for Dee's birthday [April 25]

Dave's momma blowing out her candles for her birthday [April 30] We had a small birthday party for her at home with pizza, yum!

[2 birthdays down & 2 to go! We won't see Dave's oldest brother for his. Sorry Pete! Move closer, ha!]

My little niecey poo is about to turn ONE! I love that I am going to throw her a monkey themed party on May 19th! My brother and his wife are coming down from PA for four days. I plan on showing them the big ole city of DC and throwing Addison an awesome birthday party. My aunt will be here from Florida as well. =D

Big girl!

Monkey Decor:

Okay, time to end this lengthy post. I hope you have a lovely Wednesday!

What I am LOVING Wednesday!

Aylo! It is a busy work week because I am in a SAS programming class all day today and was yesterday as well. Busy, but not busy enough for a WILW. ;)

I loved spending Easter with my family & Dave. As usual, we went to both of our families houses in good ole' Southern. We ate two massive early dinners and were super stuffed, also typical! My only complaint is that we need a day off from work after Easter! arg!

A few pictures from church:

I love this dummy [most days]. What a silly dog, right? Hims stuck in the couch. He hates my Nikon camera noises though so he got himself free and charged me right after I took this picture. Crazy crazy bulldog!

Recent Recipe love & highly recommend trying! yum yum!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone!

Dave and I plan on attending church and going to both of our families houses for an early dinner. Whew.

Yesterday, I made deviled eggs, cupcakes with Cadburys hidden inside and a huge salad for today. I am also going to make brussel sprouts, yum! Btw, deviled eggs are a pain in the ass! I forgot to buy my eggs 5 days before & peeling fresh eggs is horrible.

Dave got into his Easter gift last night. He just couldn'tttt wait.

We got new patio furniture! I love it! Yay for craig's list! Isn't our bistro table just the cutest?

So, I planted my seeds with intentions of planting them in our garden mid- May. Well, the dogs had other intentions- destroy all my seeds. I should have left them outside the fence. sigh. =(

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 1 Peter 1:3

Have a great Easter!

What I am LOVING Wednesday!

Good Morning!

I just love my posting WILW!

I am loving our new Japanese Holly bushes! Dave and I spend an hour or so at Ed's Plant World discussing which plants would fit best in our front yard. Also, we needed a plant that the pups couldn't destroy easily. Dave put them into the ground Monday and Tuesday night. Look at these beauties:

Dave did such a great job! Thanks babe! =D

I am loving that I volunteered to create a website for my church! Check out my progress here. Suggestions are highly appreciated!

I am loving that I switched to my spring closet. What a workout I got on Friday lugging these puppies up the stairs. I actually have THREE blue bins rather than the two shown in the picture. Does everyone have this many clothes?

As always, I am loving my pups!

&& I am loving my sweet niece! She's so big!

Recent Recipe Love:

Chicken Enchiladas

Recipe: Waffled French Toast

Have a great day!
